The new trends in kitchen decor often involve urban looks that are sleek and sophisticated, given that these kitchens tend to be a little smaller than their spacious counterparts. Many colors are acceptable for this decor, but some are not conducive to the urban aesthetic or end up creating an entirely different look. Steely gray kitchen decor works well in an urban aesthetic kitchen, from accessories to appliances,  metal kitchen wall art and more.

Defining Steely Gray

Gray is one of those shades that have many facets, and each offers a different look to your kitchen space. First, you have a rock gray, with a less glossy look that is dull and stony. This is a great choice for walls, but does not work well with an urban aesthetic kitchen. Second, you have a classic neutral gray. This shade works with nearly any decor, but tends to be a bit boring. Finally, a steely gray kitchen decor works with the glossier shades of gray, such as metallic finishes and sterling silver accessories.

You can use steely gray in its metallic form in different places in the kitchen, depending on your budget. Obviously, one of the hottest trends right now is stainless steel appliances, and these satisfy the steely gray look very well. You can incorporate the same stainless steel into many cookware choices, from pots and pans to crock pots and more. This also does the job of introducing steely gray, along with curtain rods, accent hooks, cabinet pulls and knobs, metal home decor and more.

Introducing Steely Gray To Walls

It may sound impossible to introduce a metallic shade to the walls or ceiling, but it is a great idea and looks modern and beautiful. Stylish ceiling and wall tiles are now made from metallic materials to create a steely gray ceiling that looks great and is still functional and easy to clean. It is also durable, with the right materials, meaning that it has more value than choosing something not made for kitchen use.

Many paint retailers, from Sherwin Williams® to Benjamin Moore® and most other brand names, offer shades of gray paint that resemble the cool steely gray in a stainless steel appliance. This cool shade works well with other cool shades, such as blues, purples, greens, and whites, but can be used with warmer shades to bring balance to a kitchen. It depends on the overall look that you are hoping to achieve.

Steely Gray Cabinets

Some cabinet companies offer stainless steel cabinets that look great, if a bit sterile in the modern kitchen. The urban aesthetic look should be clean, with smooth lines and modern accessories, but does not have to have the sterility of steely gray cabinets from cold metal. You can warm up these cabinets with frosted glass faces, which add character and life to the cabinets and dress up the metal design.

Steely gray kitchen décor comes from a variety of sources, and each can be beautiful and modern while still offering an urban aesthetic vibe.
