Outdoor furniture and decor are amongst the most expensive ideas for your home, especially if you are looking for high-quality stylish pieces that coordinate with the rest of your home. Finding deals on outdoor furniture and accessories is critical if you want your outdoor living spaces to look great without spending thousands of dollars. Here are some ways that you can get the best deal on what you need for outdoor decorating.

Watch Local Yard Sales

As the season begins to transition from summer to fall, more people will begin selling outdoor furniture and accessories instead of storing them for next year. Yard sales will also begin to taper off as the weather turns cold, so they will become larger and include more items to make room and increase profits. Watch yard sales in your area for outdoor furniture and accessories that are perfect for your yard, shopping for the next year or the current season, depending on your needs. You can find area yard sales by driving popular neighborhoods or by looking in a local newspaper for yard sale listings. You’ll be amazed at what you’ll find: From patio umbrellas to metal cross wall decor or horse metal wall art, you can decorate your patio or deck for pennies on the dollar.

Head to Home Improvement Stores

You cannot always find deals on outdoor decor at your local home improvement store, but you can sometimes find amazing markdowns or clearance prices on show pieces or discontinued items, especially at the end of the season. Talk to the store’s manager about upcoming markdowns or future price reductions, and be sure to ask about display model pricing too. Some stores offer drastic price reductions if you are willing to take the model used as a display and this can be a great way to scoop up a fabulous outdoor furniture set or accessory. It can also be a very good way to avoid having to put together your outdoor furniture or accessory item.

Look for Sale Advertisements

Newspapers and online stores offer special deals on a variety of things, including outdoor furniture and accessories on occasion. Limited-time-only pricing and end-of-season markdowns will be prominently displayed on store advertisements and in newspaper ad sections as well, but watch for special online-only prices at your favorite online stores too. You may pay an additional cost for shipping, but it is often comparable to what you would spend in gas for your vehicle to drive somewhere, especially if you do not live in the center of town or in a bustling city. When you know who has what item on sale, you can minimize your travel time, too, or carpool with a friend who is heading in the same direction.

Check Secondhand Shops

Secondhand shops, also called thrift stores, antique shops, and flea markets are good places to find the occasional outdoor treasure, but be careful to watch for damages on these pieces. Weigh the cost of your cheap item with the price to make it look fabulous, such as repairing minor damage or reupholstering outdoor cushions. Only make the purchase if it is worth the cost, otherwise you may spend more money renovating an old item that you would to buy a comparable new piece.
