If you suffer from clutter around your house, there are some easy projects that can help you get it under control. Once you get clutter conquered, it can be much easier to keep it that way long-term.
1. Get Paper Under Control
Paper is the one thing that most people mention as the biggest clutter trouble-maker in the home. If you have a backlog of paper, set aside a Saturday as a "family paper day" to get existing papers sorted through. Then, get a small basket, and make it the "to-do" basket for placing things like outgoing mail. Place a trash can near the door closest to your mailbox so you can throw junk mail away before it even gets into the house. While experts recommend dealing with mail the minute it comes into the door, this isn't always practical. Instead, have one small basket close to the door for non-junk mail, and sort it out daily when you have time. Get every family member their own small filing cabinet. This way, there will be a place to store the important papers neatly. With just the purchase of a couple of baskets, a trash can and a few filing cabinets, you will be on your way to a less cluttered home.
2. Closet Clutter Solutions
Closets are another common problem when it comes to clutter. A good project to get closets organized can involve the whole family. Clean out closets, and gather up anything that can be donated to charity. Throw away anything that isn't needed and move anything that shouldn’t be in the closet: For example, your tools should go to the tool shed and the coffee cup metal wall art that you bought online should be hung on the kitchen wall. Once you have everything out of the closets and sorted through, invest in some new closet shelving units and organizers that fit your needs. Once you put everything back neatly, you will really enjoy the improvement.

3. Get the Home Office Organized
It can be extremely frustrating to work in a cluttered office. Start by throwing out trash and unneeded papers. If non-work related items have infiltrated your office, such as kids' toys, get them out. Then, invest in a few items, such as a filing cabinet if you don't already have one, a cork board, storage bins, mail sorter, white board, and a traditional "in-out" basket. You will find working much more pleasant after completing this project.
4. Kitchen Cabinets
Do you open your kitchen cabinets and then duck to avoid something falling on your head? This can make cooking stressful instead of enjoyable. Take a day, and clean the cabinets. If you have too many dishes or containers, either donate the excess to charity or store them elsewhere. Sort out food products, and throw away any that are outdated. Invest in some organizational accessories, such as cabinet racks designed to hold plastic container and pan lids. Rearrange things to keep items you use frequently in the most convenient locations. It will seem like a whole new kitchen.
5. Workshop Organization
Get your home workshop in shape with some easy organization projects. Install a peg board, which will make it easy to keep tools visible and within easy reach. A rack that holds containers for nails, screws and other small hardware items is also a great addition. Instead of leaving power tools laying around, invest in a good shelving unit or cabinet. Not only will this make your workshop more organized, but you'll also be more productive, and improve safety.
